Research conducted has led to establishing the role of agricultural pesticides as a major factor in increasing rate of autism in the past few decades. In 1975, one in every 5 children would develop autism and in 1985, one in 2500. Today it is estimated that one in 68 children might develop autism.
What is autism
Autism, also known as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), is a group of 5 complex disorders of the brain that affect an individual’s communication skills, nonverbal communication skills, and behaviour. Usually,an individual with autism has a different way of learning, paying attention, and reacting to different sensations. The cognitiveabilities of an individual with ASD can range from little abnormality to severely challenged. Autism can affect a child before the age of 3 and remain throughout the life of the individual.
